In a special report for Telemundo 51, Oscar shared his journey to the United States after living in Mexico for four years. "I saw the United States as a place with more open possibilities for what I wanted to achieve. I crossed the border, something like an Indiana Jones movie. It was an experience that makes you a bit fearful at first, but once you get through it, it's like an adventure," he confessed.

Oscar revealed that the entire Trump family, including the former president, knows his story and that he arrived in the U.S. illegally.

The Cuban designer began working for the Trump family when he became the personal designer for Lara Trump, the former president's daughter-in-law, and also her friend. "He is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. I am very fortunate to call him my friend, and I feel that his career has been so incredible. Seeing it come true, I really couldn't be prouder," Lara Trump stated in the interview.

On numerous occasions, the journalist and television producer has worn Oscar García López's designs, but no one forgets the spectacular dress she wore to the inaugural gala dinner following Donald Trump's inauguration in 2017.
