In the midst of his European tour, Yomil took to his social media to share photos from Valencia and reflect on the many years he has spent achieving success in his musical career. Through the stories on his Instagram account, the Cuban reggaeton artist mentioned the projects he has participated in over the years and alluded to some of the reasons that have kept him going.
"On August 26, I will celebrate nine years since I started my project as a group director, not to mention the other six years I spent three in D.D and three in Los 4. That's 16 years on top of the game," he wrote in a message shared a few hours ago. "It sounds easy, but believe me, it's much harder than it seems; it's called resilience, discipline, quality, and I manage myself. The record labels haven't stolen a penny from me because I know how to make good deals," he concluded.
Before this story, Yomil, who has been accompanied on his tour of the Old Continent by his girlfriend Daniela Reyes, had used the same ephemeral section of the social network to reflect on how this tour is helping him better understand what is succeeding on this side of the world and what steps he needs to take in his career to remain popular among urban music fans beyond the island.
Yomil's European Tour Insights
"This tour has been very beneficial for me, understanding that the music we are making is not crossing borders. On this side of the world, music is being consumed very differently from what we are making. I'm eager to return to Cubita to focus on my career. I feel like I've been slacking off, and I know my potential. I can't afford that luxury. Let's get back to being sharp, as always," he said.
Yomil's summer tour, "Europa 2024," kicked off last June in Tenerife and will conclude on the 24th in Barcelona.
On July 18, Yomil did not overlook the fourth anniversary of the death of his friend and colleague El Dany on social media. In a heartfelt message, he remembered the impact of his passing and the void it left in Cuba's urban music scene. "July 18, 2020, was the saddest day in Cuba's urban music history. Today marks four years since your departure, brother, and you are still present. No one has forgotten you, and that's why we're here, your friends, your family, your team, to let everyone know that there's a Sensei who gives us strength and light from heaven to keep going. Rest in peace, my brother. Cuba will never forget you," he said in his emotional post.
