Monday, July 22, 2024 by Ava Castillo

A Cuban resident in the United States, during his first visit to an American beach, shared a video on social media, expressing great satisfaction over the absence of reggaeton, trash, and vulgarity. Tazmania Cubano (@Tazmania_cuba) posted a video on the social network X, showcasing the serenity and tranquility of a U.S. beach, contrasting it with the typical noise of a Cuban beach.

"There is no noise, no trash, no vulgar and filthy reggaeton, no vulgarity, no people shouting that they are 'pinguos', just educated and civilized people enjoying the peace," the Cuban pointed out in his post.

"Here’s the beach, tremendous silence, no filthy, vulgar, and vulgar reggaeton, and people listening to Havana de Primera, Van Van, Manolín el Médico de la Salsa," the man noted in the video. "You can leave your backpack a bit further back if you want; it won't get stolen, everything is just fine," he added, implying the high level of violence and theft in Cuba, a consequence of the country's misery and poverty.

"Fortunately, there is none of that filth and stinking environment you find in Cuba," he finally said, highlighting that beaches in the Caribbean nation are full of garbage.

During his first visit to a U.S. beach, the Cuban was undoubtedly amazed by the stark contrast between the reality of the Caribbean nation's resorts and the country where he currently resides.

Previously, a Cuban reported the filth present at the popular beach of Guanabo, east of Havana, which had practically turned into a dumpsite. Osmany García Zaldívar, a doctor in Physics and professor and researcher at the University of Havana, shared several photos on the social network X showing sand covered with cans, sticks, empty plastic bottles, and nylon bags, very close to bathers.

Similar conditions were also found at a beach in Camagüey. Cuban Yoleisy Cordero expressed her disappointment and concern over the state of the popular La Colonia beach in Nuevitas. Cordero described the situation as disastrous and horrible, sharing photos on Facebook that depict the deterioration of the place.
