A 17-year-old teenager, not a woman as initially reported, was the victim of a stabbing last Saturday night at Miami International Airport (MIA), according to Telemundo 51 on Monday.

The victim was sitting on the floor of the fourth level in Terminal J's Arrivals section when he was attacked, receiving 18 stab wounds in various parts of his body around 11:30 p.m., according to Miami-Dade Police.

The violent incident caused a disturbance in the airport terminal and ended with the arrest of the attacker, identified as Alexander Love, 29.

In addition to the stabbing, Love attempted to throw the teenager over the railing, but the victim managed to escape, running down the stairs to the third floor where police officers found him.

The unidentified victim was transported by authorities to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was reported in critical condition and underwent surgery.

The assailant is currently being held at the TGK Correctional Center in the county and faces a charge of attempted murder. On Monday, he was denied bail.

In the arrest report, the attacker claimed he met the victim at the airport, where he was possibly drugged, and an unknown object was inserted into his rectum. Although unsure if the teenager was responsible for the insertion, Love stated he needed to harm the person responsible, prompting him to purchase a knife from a nearby store.

However, Miami-Dade Police Detective Ángel Rodríguez stated that "this is considered an isolated incident."
