A Cuban man who had lived in Sweden for over 13 years and was deported, allegedly for failing to update his identity documents in the Nordic nation, has shared his current situation in Cuba. The young man, known on social media as "Sentelemald," explained that he is working in a paint factory and is also pursuing his musical project, which he had always dreamed of since living in Sweden.
Sentelemald, who has two children born in Sweden, is also engaged in a legal process that could allow him to return to the country where he resided for more than a decade. "I'm focused on my music, my projects, and spending time with my family. I'm committed to my goals and just waiting for the process. I don't know how long it will take, but I'm waiting," he said.
He added that in August, he will receive a visit from his two-year-old son and the child's mother on the island. "I was deported to Cuba, but I have always been a warrior and I will not stop fighting," he wrote in one of his videos, where he was seen promoting the paint from the place where he works.
"Remember that nothing is impossible in this life, as long as you want it and fight for it. From here in Cuba, no matter the challenges I face, I will always rise and fight for what is mine without harming anyone, stealing from anyone, or meddling in anyone's life," he concluded.
The young Cuban receives support from many of his followers, a support he appreciates by responding personally. Before his deportation in mid-May, Sentelemald shared several videos on the mentioned social network, denying claims that he was unemployed, had a criminal record, and other speculations made by netizens who found his case suspicious.
One of his clarifications was about why he didn't flee to another European country, as some suggested. He said that doing so would have put him on a blacklist with Swedish police immediately, and it was not a path he was willing to take.
Throughout this ordeal, he has defended his right to be with his young son, just two years old, whom he has now been forced to leave behind. Sentelemald has shared his story to alert other migrants about the strict laws in Sweden and the importance of always keeping identity documents up to date.
He previously indicated that he stopped updating his documents because he was involved in a legal process to regain joint custody of his older son, who is eight years old. This effort required significant time and money, which distracted him and had consequences on his private life.
Many netizens have speculated that Sentelemald might be hiding details that could shed more light on his situation. However, other followers have shown him unconditional support on social media, leaving messages of solidarity and confirming that hundreds of migrants in Sweden are facing similar situations.
Previously, Sentelemald mentioned that upon his return to Cuba, he would try to launch his musical career and take on the challenge of returning to the island with optimism. It seems he is succeeding in doing so.
