Kamala Harris has managed to raise $90 million in the past 24 hours, setting a record figure largely driven by small contributions. Although the Vice President of the United States also has the backing of major business leaders, famous artists, and heavyweight figures from her Party.

Since Joe Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the presidential race and endorsed Harris as his potential successor in the electoral campaign, her role as the Democratic candidate for November seems increasingly likely. "The Democrats are on track to reach $100 million raised through ActBlue," celebrated Kenneth Pennington, a strategist for the Blue Party, on Monday.

According to the New York Times, Harris's campaign reported $81 million on the first day of her candidacy, thanks to donations from 888,000 people, 60 percent of whom were first-time contributors. However, ActBlue, the digital donation platform for the Party, processed more than $90 million in the same period, according to an analysis by the newspaper of the platform's contributions.

Support for Kamala continues to grow daily, to the point where many believe no one within the Party stands a chance against her, and it is even possible that her nomination could be finalized this week. The 59-year-old attorney and daughter of immigrants enjoys the backing of figures like the Clintons and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (one of those who advocated for Biden's withdrawal), as well as leading senators and donors, and even those considered as potential replacements for the president this year.

Others, like Barack Obama, who also urged Biden to reconsider his candidacy, are advocating for an open process "from which an outstanding candidate emerges" to face Trump, the former president said in a statement. He is joined by several billionaires and Party donors, including Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York and founder of the financial information company Bloomberg; Reed Hastings, one of the founders of Netflix, and venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, co-founder of Sun Microsystems.

In the first seven hours after receiving President Biden's endorsement, the Vice President achieved an impressive fundraising total of nearly $47 million.
