Criticism of Miguel Díaz-Canel's government by Cuban economist Juan Triana Cordoví, published on the blog of renowned singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez (Segunda Cita), has sparked a wave of commentary on social media. Many Cubans have shared their views on CiberCuba's Facebook page.

The professor from the official Center for the Study of the Cuban Economy at the University of Havana criticized the economic measures taken by the leader of the so-called "continuity" and deemed it "regrettable" that Díaz-Canel did not acknowledge his "responsibility" for their failure.

The theorist, who is closely associated with the regime and the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), took aim at the president's speech during the third ordinary session of the X Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP). "That the president describes the disaster is something he has been doing for some time now, at least twice a year. However, I believe he failed to delve into the causes, and that in my opinion is regrettable," Triana Cordoví stated in a blog post titled "Opinions of Economists by Mail."

Economic Missteps Highlighted

Additionally, the economist highlighted that "for eight years, the Cuban government has concentrated investment in hotels (35% of the total) while neglecting investment in agriculture, fishing, the sugar industry, the food industry, and energy." "That the president does not recognize his personal responsibility and that of the government in this decision is very regrettable," Triana Cordoví added.

The note's publication on CiberCuba's Facebook page generated over 500 comments. Here are some of the most popular:

"You need a lot of nerve to address the people every year with the same story and ask for more sacrifices... How much longer? But the deputies are even more brazen since they supposedly represent us, yet they only look out for their own interests," said Belkis González.

"Poor guy, will we hear from this brave economist again? May God protect and bless him," expressed Maritza Luna García. "You will never see a communist admit their mistakes without blaming others," noted a user identified as 'Debunking the Cuban regime.'

"Triana, a far-sighted economist, has always made such direct analyses, proportional to the situation of each moment. They don't listen; they just seek to cling to power at all costs," commented Marlene Gil Granado. Meanwhile, Cora Barry showed her admiration in a more colloquial way: "You've got yourself into a real mess! Your days are numbered! You know it."

"Finally, someone tells the truth. Everything is a lie; no one believes in our leaders anymore. It's sad to see how our beautiful nation has been destroyed; education, hospitals, those beautiful achievements of the revolution have disappeared, and yet it's the same old song," lamented Orestes Zaldívar.

"The most regrettable thing is an arrogant, deficient, and overbearing man surrounded by incompetents who meet every day without believing in any improvement in any aspect of society," criticized Mario Hernández Pita.

Many others congratulated Triana Cordoví for his reflection. "Now let's hope they don't make him disappear. A round of applause for the professor," said Lenna Carmenates Pantaleón.

"The real tragedy is that the people bear the brunt, and the consequences are dire because the exodus of this period has surpassed that of previous years," emphasized Nadir Quintana Aguilar, highlighting the mass exodus caused by the crisis and Díaz-Canel's mismanagement.

Finally, Miriam Ramírez Santana celebrated Triana Cordoví's words. "At least they published some very interesting news. I wish all Cubans could read it, so they see that telling the truth is what we need!"
