The humanitarian initiative "Aliento de Vida" made a public appeal on Tuesday for financial assistance to sustain its program dedicated to children and young people with cerebral palsy. This project, which started four years ago, is currently facing challenges in continuing its vital work.
Yankiel Fernández, the activist and leader behind the project, explained on Facebook that they currently assist 12 children. He announced that “soon we will be supporting 15 children in Havana and 20 in Pinar del Río.”
Fernández shared a specific case needing urgent help: “One of my little ones is hospitalized with severe epileptic seizures, and since it happened so suddenly, I need help to assist him,” he stated. The activist, who is deeply involved in charity work for low-income families, highlighted the pressing need.
“Frank has a tracheotomy and gastrostomy, and he is one of those kids we love and care for a lot,” Fernández noted. He appealed to anyone who could contribute fruit juices, gelatin, milk, and yogurt.
For those wishing to make a monetary donation to support Frank's family, contributions can be made to the CUP account 9224 9598 7881 8648, with confirmation of the donation sent to the number 58 04 77 06.
Recently, Fernández personally delivered clothes, food, diapers, and medications to individuals living in extreme poverty in rural areas of Santiago de Cuba. He documented the moment on Facebook, showing the joy and gratitude of the recipients living in the Sierra Maestra and other remote locations.
Appeals for Community Support
Previously, the activist had called on social media for donations to support children and other residents in these communities who lack basic necessities such as food, clothing, and medicine.
