Mayeta noted that while festivities had been ongoing in many parts of the city for days, a major brawl erupted on Wednesday night among men and women in one of the designated festival zones. He did not specify the number of people involved or the exact location of the incident.

Mayeta explained that he couldn't share the video on social media because the footage was too violent. On Thursday, a local resident criticized the Santiago de Cuba Carnival, which officially began on Thursday and will continue until Saturday, for the exorbitant prices of food and beverages.

The complainant said that with his professional salary (around 7,000 pesos), after purchasing some food for the month, he is left with approximately 1,500 pesos, which barely allows him to enjoy a single day of the carnival.

The man reported that beer prices range from 200 to 240 pesos, fried chicken costs 400 pesos, malt drinks are 300 pesos, canned juices are around 250 pesos, cheese pizzas are 120 pesos, while the traditional pork sandwich (pan con lechón) is priced at 200 pesos, though he noted it can also go up to 250 pesos.

The largest popular festival in Santiago de Cuba is taking place this year under challenging circumstances, marked by frequent blackouts, several diseases circulating among the population, and rampant economic inflation.
