86-Year-Old Cuban Woman's First Impressions of Life in the U.S.: "The Difference is Night and Day"

Tuesday, July 30, 2024 by Olivia Torres

After sharing an emotional video of her mother's arrival to the United States, Cuban Yanelis Blondin posted a new video on her TikTok account where her 86-year-old mother narrates her first impressions.

With remarkable lucidity and clarity, her mother recounts how she experienced her first long flight and the differences she noticed in the 12 hours since landing on American soil.

"There was this girl covering her eyes, and I asked, 'What's wrong with you?' She said, 'Oh, the turbulence,' and I told her, 'Nothing's going to happen, what's your problem?'" she commented, recalling a conversation with a frightened passenger during the flight.

"I've never been on a flight of such long duration. When you travel on the island, you just get up and you're there. I wasn't scared at all," she confessed in a video that has touched many hearts, not only because of her eloquence but also because of her daughter's joy at being reunited with her.

When asked by her daughter about the differences she perceives compared to the island, she didn't hesitate to respond: "The difference in life is total," she added, as her daughter pointed out that there was still much to see.

"That's why when people come here, even if they struggle at first, they don't want to leave because back there, everything is a struggle," the octogenarian Cuban stated in the video, which has garnered affectionate comments and well-wishes.

"What a beautiful lady, God bless her, I wish I had my mother like that"; "God bless her, it's wonderful that she can enjoy"; "What a lovely lady, she has a magnificent expression"; "How beautiful and brave"; "Blessings to her"; "What a marvel"; "God bless her, she is very insightful"; "Congratulations to that lovely lady"; "It's wonderful that she wanted to come at her age, may God bless her"; "She has spoken such true words"; "When I hear someone say she is too old to come, well I brought my old mother so she can end her days in abundance and freedom"; "Blessings and welcome to this great country. It's a blessing to arrive in this country and for her to enjoy it"; "Wishing her much health so she can enjoy more of this beautiful country," people commented.

Previously, @yanelisblondin shared a video of the emotional moment when she welcomed her mother at the airport, surrounded by balloons and with a big smile on her face. "My beautiful love, my mother with me," she celebrated at that moment.
