Limay Blanco Provides Home to Mother and Three Daughters Sleeping on a Porch in Pinar del Río

Wednesday, July 31, 2024 by Matthew Diaz

Cuban comedian Limay Blanco handed over the 40th house, thanks to donations made through the Cristo Cambia Vidas project, to a mother who had been living with her three daughters on a porch in the Taco Taco neighborhood, located in the San Cristóbal municipality of Pinar del Río province.

In a video posted on his social media, Limay and the recipient of the house expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the purchase of the home, which is situated in the same neighborhood where the woman and her daughters had been sleeping.

In another video, shared a few weeks ago, Limay visited the location with his wife, Glenda, and former boxer Lino Tomasen ("The Cuban Iron Man"), where they witnessed firsthand the inhumane conditions in which the family was surviving.

During that visit, they arrived in the town at 1 a.m., during a blackout, and found the woman on the porch of an old, empty house. The three girls, aged 12, six, and one year old, were sleeping on a bed while their mother tried to keep mosquitoes away. A few meters away, the woman had placed the baby’s crib and their other belongings under an avocado tree.

The mother explained that she was in this situation because her own mother had thrown her out of the house. After sharing the family’s plight and asking his followers for help to gather the $2,000 needed to buy a small house in the same area, Limay clarified that if they succeeded in purchasing the home, it would be put in one of the children's names. He also noted that, to his knowledge, seven of the houses he has provided so far have been sold.
