According to the digital platform 5 de Septiembre, she advised the public to seek immediate medical attention, avoid self-diagnosis, and maintain hygienic measures to prevent the reproduction of mosquitoes that transmit these viruses. She also recommended proper hydration, avoiding the consumption of food from dubious sources, and maintaining good hand hygiene.
Earlier in July, the Cuban regime reported that the Oropouche virus had already spread to 12 provinces and that there are no resources available to start fumigation campaigns to prevent the mosquito vector's proliferation.
Francisco Durán, National Director of Epidemiology at MINSAP, confirmed on national television that the virus has been predominantly identified in rural and semi-rural areas, with patients exhibiting symptoms similar to dengue. Unlike Oropouche, authorities warn that dengue can progress to severe forms and cause death, underscoring the need for timely medical attention.
