Cuban Woman Highlights Pros and Cons of Living in California

A Cuban resident in California shared her experience on TikTok about the pros and cons of living in the state after two years. The Cuban woman, named Dianeyis (@lovedychic on TikTok), highlighted the weather as one of the main advantages. "It has the best weather in the United States," she stated. She described the pleasant warmth that isn't as stifling as in Florida and a mild winter where the sun always shines. "It's warm all year round," she added, emphasizing the consistent good weather.

Another positive aspect she mentioned is the job market. "There are a lot of job opportunities, and you can get the best ones if you know English. But there are jobs for everyone, documented and undocumented," she explained. Additionally, she highlighted the many opportunities for entrepreneurship, as long as the necessary taxes are paid. "You can set up your business on any corner," she said, adding that the Latino community is well-received and treated with respect. "Except for a few people, everyone is pro-immigrant. There's not much racism," she assured, emphasizing the support for immigrants.

Challenges and Drawbacks

However, not everything is perfect. The high taxes in California are one of her biggest complaints. "They are very high and there are a lot of them. I don't understand why, but it's a lot of money. At least biweekly, they deduct $250 to $300 from me," she lamented, considering this a significant amount.

Another negative aspect is the high cost of housing. "I wouldn't want to buy a house in California; it's extremely expensive," she commented. Additionally, she is not fond of Los Angeles. "Los Angeles is horrible, it's full of homeless people and people who smoke marijuana," she said bluntly.

Finally, she offered advice to those considering moving to California: "Come with many people and make sure everyone works. Otherwise, it will be unsustainable to support yourself, save money, and achieve your American dream."
