A young man identified as Roberto Castilla Oñate was murdered at a street party in the Reparto Chicharrones area of Santiago de Cuba. The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning when the 36-year-old attended the gathering, apparently having a confrontation with members of a gang over an ex-partner, according to local reporter Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook.

Despite receiving immediate help, Castilla Oñate, known affectionately as "El Loco" by friends and family, succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital. Various cousins of the victim have stated that the real motive behind the attack remains unknown, although there is speculation that it may be related to issues with an ex-partner.

"He went to buy some cigarettes at the pum pum where he was, and one of the guys who had also been with that girl, it seems they were already watching him and attacked him," explained one of his relatives.

Witnesses have pointed out that the attackers belong to a gang known as "La 46." According to multiple sources, the main suspect is a minor known as "Manuel Alejandro," who allegedly stabbed Castilla Oñate twice, leading to his death.

Roberto Castilla Oñate lived in the Vista Hermosa area and was the father of two young children, a girl and a boy. His body is currently being held at the funeral home in Santiago de Cuba. This tragic event adds to the growing wave of crimes on the island, many of which were reported this week during the Santiago Carnival.
