The tropical depression moving over Cuba this Saturday afternoon has strengthened into Tropical Storm Debby, posing a threat of torrential rains and coastal flooding across much of Florida.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported that the system intensified to become a tropical storm in its sixth advisory issued by the U.S. meteorological agency. Debby is the fourth storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.
