The tale of a dog that refused to leave the side of its deceased companion in Havana has deeply touched animal advocates, who are now committed to finding the dog's owner. Lizzy's Pet Rescue shared the heart-wrenching story last Sunday in the Facebook group "Sociedad Protectora de Animales en Cuba".
"Today at noon, we rescued this dog under a heavy downpour, guarding its deceased companion. Both were well-cared for and tick-free, so I presume they are from a home," noted the activist, who indicated that the dog was rescued at 29A and 70, Buenavista, Playa. The dog, nicknamed Negro, wouldn't leave the deceased dog’s side. "We had to use a leash to separate him from her to take the body off the street," she added.
The poignant story has prompted the rescue group to search for the dog's owner. "If the owner sees this post, please contact me at 54836238," the activist urged. In the comments section, many people highlighted the loyalty of dogs and the importance of finding the dog's owner.
On Monday, animal advocates requested help for a cat missing part of its face, which was spotted on a street in Havana. Dianeya Pérez reported in the Facebook group "Sociedad Protectora de Animales en Cuba" that the cat was in Lawton, "on Gertrudis Street between Segunda and Primera".
Recently, a puppy was abandoned at a corner in the municipality of Playa, Havana, with a sign asking for help. A Facebook post noted that the puppy was found at the corner of 5th B and 116, along with a sign indicating that the animal has diarrhea and cannot drink milk.
