A thief who scaled a second floor, broke into a house, and stole a laptop was apprehended by the police in the Playa municipality of Havana.

The theft occurred on 70th Street between 19th and 21st, in the Buenavista neighborhood, where the criminal "thought he was a superhero, climbing to the second floor to commit his crimes and then disappearing at the speed of light," according to the pro-government Facebook page Habana Noticias.

A neighbor saw the individual leaving the house and alerted the homeowner, who then called the police. The thief was captured within 24 hours, as reported by the publication.

The note did not disclose the name of the detainee but did publish his photo alongside pictures of the recovered laptop.

In the comments section, individuals who have been victims of home burglaries questioned the police's efficiency in resolving this case so quickly.

A young woman identified as PS Suly commented, "How lucky they were. In my case, someone broke in and stole the motorcycle from my living room back in January, and no one saw anything, and the police didn't catch anyone. What luck! Congratulations."

The public frequently questions the actions of the police forces in curbing the rise of theft and crime in the country. Many Cubans end up assisting in capturing thieves or taking preventive measures, such as installing surveillance cameras in homes and private businesses.

Recently, a video captured the moment a thief, in broad daylight, stole two bicycles from a house in the Playa municipality of Havana.

Activist and comedian Limay Blanco denounced the increase in theft and crime in Cuba after a friend's mobile phone was stolen while on a bus in the capital.

Meanwhile, last week, the arrest of five people involved in the violent theft of a motorcycle from a 72-year-old woman in Arroyo Naranjo was reported. The information, published by a pro-government Facebook page, included photos of the alleged thieves but did not reveal their names. The five are reportedly imprisoned and under investigation.
