A teenager identified as Yenifer Gómez was stabbed on Tuesday by her ex-boyfriend at the home where she lived with her grandmother, in the Nuevo Vista Alegre neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba. Neighbors reported that the teenager sustained injuries to several parts of her body, according to journalist Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook.

The alleged attacker, identified as Flavio Lamar, is reportedly being hidden by relatives with connections to the Police, according to the journalist. The minor was urgently taken to the Frank País Polyclinic, where she was stabilized. Twenty minutes later, an ambulance transferred her to the Dr. Antonio María Béguez César South Children's Hospital, commonly known as La Colonia.

"She arrived here in cardiac arrest, but we were able to revive her, and she is now undergoing surgery. Her condition is very critical," a worker from the children's hospital informed journalist Mayeta.

According to Mayeta, a police patrol car is stationed outside the Children's Hospital, waiting to capture the young aggressor, who is still at large. "I am continuing to gather details on this unfortunate incident," Mayeta added.

Recent Surge in Violent Crimes in Santiago de Cuba

Recently, a 28-year-old man, identified as Raciel Palacios and a resident of the Altamira neighborhood in Santiago de Cuba, was stabbed near a bus stop in that area. Mayeta reported on Facebook that Palacios, who is the father of a young girl, was urgently taken to the Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital with severe injuries.

In July, another young woman from Santiago de Cuba, who was stabbed by her partner, had to undergo emergency surgery for the second time. The victim, named Ana Keilan Portillo, was operated on at the Saturnino Lora Provincial Hospital, where she remains hospitalized.

"Ana Keilan is reported to be in serious condition but is recovering satisfactorily following this latest surgery," the journalist noted on Facebook.
