Yindra Elizástigui, mother of Cuban political prisoner Luis Robles, confirmed that her son is currently on temporary leave from prison. In a Facebook post, she expressed that amidst so much sadness, at least her son was home.

Robles, 31, is serving a five-year prison sentence for his peaceful protest on December 4, 2020, during which he demanded an end to repression in Cuba and the release of dissident rapper Denis Solís. Since then, he received his first leave, lasting only three days, in February 2024. On December 31, Robles was transferred to a correctional labor center, a regime that allows him to enjoy these home visits.

Previously, he had been held in the so-called "Zona Cero" of the Combinado del Este prison until he was moved to a correctional camp known as "El 18" in Prison 1580, a place his mother described as "more welcoming."

The regime had not responded to a parole request submitted by the young man's lawyers at the beginning of the year; in May, they finally denied this benefit to the prisoner of conscience.
