The dedicated animal protector, Yenney Caballero, shared a heartfelt story on social media about the abuse a puppy suffered in her neighborhood in San José de Las Lajas, Mayabeque. The incident occurred when the puppy, seeking refuge on a porch, was beaten away by a woman who identified herself as a Christian.

The activist recounted on Facebook that the small dog, apparently abandoned and exhausted from the heat and hunger, attempted to find shelter in a house. However, the homeowner reacted by striking the puppy with a broom until it was chased away.

Outraged by the cruelty of the scene, Caballero confronted the neighbor, reminding her that before proclaiming to be a Christian, she should strive to be a better human being.

Puppy Rescued and Put Up for Adoption

After the incident, the animal protector followed the frightened puppy, successfully rescuing it and bringing it to her home.

“He is beautiful and just needs a little love and food. If anyone wants to give him a chance, he is up for adoption. Remember, if you adopt, you save a life, and that helps me make space for others that need to be saved,” the young woman noted.

This past Tuesday, Caballero shared a video on social media showing the rescue of another dog that had been abandoned in a city dumpster. The dog, still a puppy, had fractures in its hind legs, according to the young woman in the video.

Pets, often neglected and left to fend for themselves, receive care thanks to the efforts of animal activists.

On Monday, protectors in Havana announced on social media that they managed to raise the necessary funds to operate on Sara, one of the dogs that survived the Saratoga Hotel explosion.

Activist Teresa Díaz reported on Facebook that they collected the required 5,000 pesos to pay for the dog's surgery, who has a tumor on her face, and the transportation needed to carry out the procedure.
