This Wednesday, the Santiago de Cuba Electric Company announced the addition of six new vehicles to its fleet, promising to improve service and increase efficiency in addressing public complaints. The entity, often criticized by the population for its inefficient management, shared on Facebook that these vehicles are intended to enhance the quality of service provided and respond more effectively to customer demands.

The arrival of the new vehicles prompted the regime to organize an event at the Plaza de la Revolución, the main venue for communist celebrations in Santiago de Cuba. Journalist Yosmany Mayeta highlighted the delivery ceremony on social media, criticizing the company's management: "For several months, delays and inefficiency in addressing any electrical breakdown have been the norm in all neighborhoods of Santiago."

"I hope these vehicles come as a 'godsend' amid the crisis facing this sector in the province," he added.

Recurring Issues and Public Outcry

Last July, an electric pole fell in the city of Santiago de Cuba, and the delay by the Electric Company in resolving the issue led residents to question whether the regime was prepared to handle the rains and winds brought by hurricanes during the current cyclone season.

Journalist Mayeta reported on Facebook about the incident on Segunda de Sorribe Street, between Cuabitas and Patricio Lumumba, denouncing that the local government's inaction endangered the population as the street remained open to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

In April, several houses in the Altamira neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba were without power for several hours after some cables caught fire, underscoring the deplorable state of the electrical installations. The delay by the Electric Company in resolving the issue highlighted the entity's poor management.

According to testimonies from local residents, the cables ignited around 2:00 PM, and it took over two and a half hours of constant phone calls to the state entity before they arrived at the affected area to attempt to resolve the problem.
