Thursday, August 15, 2024 by Daniel Colon

Eduardo Antonio received the U.S. coin featuring the image of “The Queen of Salsa,” Celia Cruz, from Omer Pardillo Cid, the universal executor of Celia Cruz's estate. The coin began circulating in early August.

During a tribute to Celia for the launch of this coin, Omer Pardillo personally handed it to El Divo, saying, "Thank you for always showing love to Celia. I want to give you this coin; you know Celia loved you very much. She sponsored you in Mexico, you were at her 50th-anniversary celebration, and she gave you a good luck kick, even though you didn’t need it."

"I’m going to frame it in gold like she deserves. I carry it in my heart because you know, and the world knows, how much I love her. To me, she remains alive, lighting my path," El Divo affirmed.

Eduardo Antonio participated in the tribute by singing "Se ha dormido una estrella," a beautiful song dedicated to "La Guarachera de Cuba."

The coin featuring the Cuban singer officially started circulating in the United States on August 5. This special edition is part of the American Women Quarters 2024 program, which honors five notable female figures in the nation.
