Following the tragic fire that broke out in mid-August in a home in the Luyanó neighborhood of Diez de Octubre, which claimed the lives of a one-year-old girl and three adults from the same family, a call for help is circulating on social media to deliver medications to the hospital where the only survivor, a 14-year-old girl, is being treated.

“Urgent and humanitarian call. The case of the 14-year-old girl, the sole survivor of four fatalities from the fire in Luyanó, needs everyone's help. The hospital is requesting these creams: petroleum jelly, nitrofurazone, triple antibiotic, zeolite talc, and aspirin. It's to prepare an ointment,” the message circulating on social media indicated.

The Facebook user identified as Edmundo Dantés Junior stated that those interested in helping could contact the phone numbers: 55145342, 55703041, and 52683347 (the father of the girl).

The crisis in the public health system in Cuba, combined with pharmaceutical shortages and the lack of medical supplies and medications, results in the absence of these drugs needed by the girl who has severe burns on her body.

The explosion of an electric motorcycle in the home triggered the fatal fire. The girl is in critical condition at Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital.

According to neighbors who spoke to the independent portal 14ymedio, in the house where the explosion occurred, located at 203 Marqués de la Torre Street, there were two electric scooters. One of them remained charging overnight and exploded shortly after seven in the morning.

Despite neighbors' attempts to rescue the inhabitants, the entrance door was locked with bars and a padlock, making access impossible. “They were trapped inside,” lamented one of the rescuers.

The deceased were identified as a couple, Andrés Herrera and Yiliam Martínes, and their two daughters, Vanesa and Verónica. Additionally, a cousin of the family was also in the house because he couldn't return home. The three adults died at the scene.

The girls were rescued alive by firefighters, although the youngest, Verónica, passed away shortly afterward.
