A Cuban woman known as Mayi was viciously attacked by her ex-partner at the El Bodegón shopping center in Artemisa, where she worked. According to eyewitnesses, the assailant began the attack by delivering several punches to the victim, then struck her with a chair, and finally dragged her outside the premises to stab her, reported the Cuban Institute for Press Freedom (ICLEP).

The incident, which took place last Monday, left the woman seriously injured; however, she was quickly transported to the local hospital where she was stabilized, detailed Caridad González Piloto, a neighbor of the victim. She mentioned that the woman is currently out of danger and reported to be in stable condition.

Reports from ICLEP indicate that the attacker, who had previously served time for murder and other assaults on Mayi, was on parole at the time of the attack.
