Independent media confirmed this Saturday the discovery of the body of 20-year-old Lianet Núñez Pérez, a resident of the Jesús María neighborhood in Old Havana, who had been reported missing since Friday.

Lianet, who was last seen on the night of Thursday, August 22, was found dead with signs of strangulation, an act allegedly committed by her boyfriend, according to independent reporter Irma Broek on Facebook.

Friends and family of the victim have shared heart-wrenching messages on social media, calling for justice. A close friend revealed in a testimony that Lianet was not only strangled but also beaten and mutilated.

The alleged murderer, who was the victim's partner, has been arrested and is currently in prison, the report emphasized. "I hope you never get out and that you feel so much pain that you end your own life," expressed Lianet's friend in a public message.

Rayti Ray, a Freestyle rapper and close friend of the young woman, dedicated an emotional message to her, recalling how she overcame "your depression and anxieties at such a young age... you moved forward, showed that you could shine and smile again... and just when everything seemed bright... they turned off your light... Baby rest in peace my white paper color, I refuse to believe you're gone, but if you are, I'll keep the smiles, the chats, the hugs, knowing I had nothing left unsaid," he expressed.

Núñez was last seen the night before her disappearance, and her last communication was with her partner via WhatsApp. Her cell phone was either off or out of coverage, but it was one of the last traces before her disappearance.

This crime adds to an alarming statistic of violence on the island, where two femicides have been reported within less than 24 hours in the same area of Old Havana. On Friday, the body of a 23-year-old young woman and mother of two was found in a garbage dump in that Havana municipality.
