The shocking quadruple murder that took place on Saturday in the town of Ceballos, located in the province of Ciego de Ávila, has compelled the official media, which typically avoids reporting on homicides and other serious crimes, to break its silence.

The weekly publication Invasor released a brief editorial revealing the names and ages of the victims. "Among the deceased is Richard Dariel Núñez, a four-year-old child. The other victims are Lester Rivadeneira Rodríguez, a 17-year-old youth; Yamila Reyes Tamayo, aged 29; and Raysa Rodríguez Pérez de Corcho, aged 50," the editorial details.

The note further mentions that the relevant authorities are investigating the causes of the crime and will inform the public as soon as sufficient evidence is gathered. "Revolutionary justice will once again root out impunity," the statement declares.

"Crimes with serious consequences like this one provoke immediate popular outrage, on whose behalf the main authorities of the province extend their condolences to the families and friends," it concludes.

Although Invasor does not specify the familial relationships of the victims, it has been confirmed that they were from two families. Yamila Reyes Tamayo (29 years old) was the mother of young Richard Dariel Núñez, and Raysa Rodríguez Pérez de Corcho (50 years old) was the mother of Lester Rivadeneira Rodríguez.

Despite this being the only official information available, more details about this horrific murder have been emerging on social media as time passes. According to a neighbor who spoke to independent news outlet CubaNet, the incident occurred between 6:00 and 7:00 AM on Saturday, after the father of the four-year-old boy had left for work at his farm.

"It seems they broke in to steal money that the man had from some sales," the source, who wished to remain anonymous, stated.

Raysa and her son Lester were in the neighboring house and, upon hearing their neighbors' screams, rushed over to help and were also slaughtered. CubaNet reports that the incident took place in the "old bakery" neighborhood of Ceballos. The neighbor mentioned that the thieves had been hiding in an abandoned house across from Yamila and her husband's home.
