A multi-vehicle accident occurred this Saturday on Vía Blanca, causing material damage to a minibus, a refrigerated cargo truck, and a yellow Jeep used for passenger transport (boteo). The Jeep’s driver had to be freed by firefighters after becoming trapped inside the vehicle.
“Accident at the entrance of Boca Ciega. A yellow boteo Jeep, the driver was stuck, they were trying to get him out. He was pretty banged up but conscious,” reported a user in the Facebook group ‘Accidents Buses & Trucks’.
Another user who shared an image of the incident on the aforementioned Facebook group indicated that the accident had taken place “in the late afternoon, on Vía Blanca, approaching Guanabo.”
“Three vehicles were involved in the accident: a minibus, a gazelle with a thermal box, and the Jeep. In addition to the Jeep speeding, that curve is dangerous because it’s the entrance to Boca Ciega right on the curve. Anyone unfamiliar with that stretch will run into whatever is in front of them,” commented an internet user on the post.

A Mitsubishi pickup truck and a Soviet-made Volga collided at the intersection of Vía Blanca and San Benigno. Despite the severity of the incident, the injuries were not reported as serious.
The explosion of one of the front tires of a bus from the Provincial Transport Company of Havana (EPTH) caused it to veer off the road at the end of April. Fortunately, the accident, which occurred in Alturas de Boca Ciega, did not result in any fatalities.
