Two individuals were injured during an accident early Saturday morning in Miami-Dade County, according to police sources. The incident, which took place in the Golden Glades area, resulted in injuries to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officer and the driver of a Toyota Camry, as reported by Local 10 News.

According to the official account, the driver of the Toyota Camry "lost control" while heading south on Interstate 95, skidded on the wet road, and collided with a stationary Dodge Challenger belonging to the FHP.

FHP spokesperson, Lieutenant Alex Camacho, stated that the FHP officer was protecting construction workers in the express lanes of southbound I-95 in the Golden Glades interchange area. "The express lanes were closed for an active construction work zone, and the officer's vehicle was strategically positioned to ensure the safety of the workers," Camacho said in a statement.

Firefighters transported the two injured individuals to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
