Alicia Consuegra Sánchez, a 14-year-old girl who went missing on Monday morning at the National Bus Terminal in Havana's Plaza de la Revolución municipality, has been found safe and sound, according to an update shared on social media by her mother.

"I apologize for not notifying everyone yesterday that my daughter was found. Thank you all for your concern. Special thanks to God for putting that kind and very responsible woman by her side until she was found," wrote Nancy Sánchez in the comments section of the alert posted by Ismaray Consuegra.

"Many thanks to everyone who participated in the search for my daughter," added the mother, who did not provide further details about the cause of the teenager's disappearance. However, she did mention that a good Samaritan stayed with the girl until her family arrived.

Rising Concerns Over Disappearances in Cuba

In recent times, reports of missing persons in Cuba have become more frequent, raising concerns among families who turn to social media for help in locating their loved ones, due to the lack of an official channel to make these cases visible.

Due to the absence of a police protocol and an early warning system for missing children, the feminist platform YoSíTeCreo en Cuba established the "Alerta Mayde" to help find missing minors in Cuba. This alert was created following the disappearance in May 2021 of the teenager Maydeleisis Rosales Rodríguez in Havana, who, unfortunately, remains missing three years later.
