A Cuban woman reported on Thursday that she was a victim of theft when receiving a package through the company Correos de Cuba in Cárdenas, Matanzas. According to her account, a bag of screws was placed in the package to fill the space after part of the original contents were stolen.

Using the social network Facebook, the user Lisandra Ramos Leyva provided details of the incident: "I just picked up a package at the post office in Cárdenas, checked it externally, and it seemed sealed with its labels intact."

She added, "When I got home and opened it, I reviewed the items, comparing them to the list I already had, and found that three pieces of clothing were missing. They filled the weight with that bag of rusty screws. When we checked the bottom of the package, which is where it was opened, it was sealed with transparent tape and those screws were at the bottom."

Faced with this unpleasant situation, Ramos asked, "I would like to know where the hell to complain because there are many people whose items are being stolen?" she wrote, noting that she had seen a similar case posted about in Colón, another municipality in the province.

This isn't the first time such incidents have occurred, and the victims rarely manage to resolve the problem despite the entity's mission to provide secure services and respond to any issues.

Ongoing Issues with Correos de Cuba

In April, the Grupo Empresarial Correos de Cuba (GECC) claimed it was undergoing an ambitious investment process aimed at automating and digitally transforming its operations. Supposedly, the investment was intended to improve automation and digital transformation of operations, which has yet to be verified, as losses and delays remain frequent.

In fact, just a few weeks ago, the GECC confirmed on its social media that a fuel shortage was causing significant delays in package deliveries across the country.

Through responses to several users' complaints, the entity acknowledged that the fuel deficit is negatively impacting their transportation and distribution capabilities.
