Two of the workers injured in Tuesday's accident at the Cienfuegos cement factory have given their first statements to the state press. Carlos Aguilar Sabina, 33, who sustained 12% burns on his body, is reported to be in less serious condition.

"The burns hurt less now, thanks to the care provided by the doctors. The necessary medications, ointments, and burn cleanings have all helped us improve," he said.

Meanwhile, Hermes Rojas Campos, 52, with 24% of his body burned, expressed his gratitude to the doctors who have been by his side, "and thank God, many of us have improved."

Medical Attention and Condition Updates

Dr. Soraya Izaguirre Hernández, head of the burn unit at Gustavo Aldereguía Hospital, explained that Aguilar Sabina is a young patient who should not face any difficulties and is expected to recover soon.

Regarding Izaguirre Hernández, who is reported in serious condition, and Francisco Díaz Urquiza, 60, who is critically injured with 24% burns, she stated that both are stable within their severe conditions.

"We have not encountered any complications; they are receiving their treatment, and today we began the third-day regimen with everything they need," said the specialist.

The doctor also revealed that the coworkers of the four patients donated blood to the hospital's bank for them. "We needed some blood derivatives, but the response from their colleagues has been very positive, and the patients are aware of this, which has made them very happy," she emphasized.

In addition to these three injured workers, a fourth employee remains hospitalized. Dionel Figueroa Calunga, 52, has 70% burns and is in critical condition.

On Wednesday, the fifth injured worker was discharged. Alexei Aguilar Valdes, 53, who had burns on 5% of his body, was able to return home after receiving treatment.
