A public bus driver in Havana refused to transport a sick elderly woman, and he now faces potential sanctions for his behavior. Journalist Javier Gutiérrez shared the incident on Facebook, detailing how the driver of a P11 bus, which runs from El Vedado to Alamar, declined to take the woman to the Enrique Betancourt Neninger polyclinic.

"Two stops from where I was (speaking in kilometers), which would not have affected the driver's route at all, he responded, 'Friend, I don't know what time I leave; my schedule is set by the dispatcher,' then he boarded his co-driver, closed the door, and as I took two steps, he drove off," Gutiérrez explained.

According to the reporter, the initial post, which has been removed from social media, sparked widespread outrage and discontent over the driver's actions.

"Minister Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila himself read the post and facilitated the complaint," he emphasized.

Leandro Méndez Peña, the director of Transportation in the province, issued a response condemning what he described as the "shameful and inhumane behavior" of the bus driver for failing to assist a critically ill woman.

"We have been contacted by authorities from the PCC, the Havana Government, and the Minister of Transportation himself, all expressing their indignation over the incident and demanding an investigation. The difficult situation faced by the company does not justify mistreating or neglecting the human value of assisting a Cuban in need. We cannot be represented by just any driver, but by a true public servant. We are already in contact with the Alamar Bus Terminal management to address what happened," Méndez Peña's message stated.

"A single act of misconduct should not characterize the work of an entire Ministry or sector. Many of us are fighting against the odds amid the difficulties we face today," he added.
