Havana Police have apprehended a man for brazenly assaulting motorcyclists in broad daylight in El Vedado.

According to a Facebook post by Pedro Lizardo Garcés Escalona, a local delegate, the incident occurred on Friday when a young woman was riding her scooter on N Street between 25th and 27th. A criminal approached her and forcibly took her belongings.

"The young woman went to the PNR station to file a report, but workers from the underground electrical company and local residents witnessed the despicable individual return to the scene to continue his misdeeds," Garcés Escalona recounted.

"They proceeded to capture and detain him until patrol car 659 arrived. Thanks to these brave citizens," he added.

Garcés Escalona shared a photo of the thief being held down in the street by two men while two police officers restrained his arms. Another photo showed him standing in handcuffs, and a third image captured him inside the patrol car.
