On social media, Cubans are rallying to help locate the family of an elderly man who was found wandering disoriented through the streets of Bauta.

According to a Facebook post by user Raúl Alfaro, the man was seen walking along the so-called "calle ancha," apparently lost and looking for the bus stop that would take him to Bauta. However, his incoherent speech raised concerns among local residents.

Surprisingly, the elderly man's son, Frank Damian Rodríguez Zas, responded to the post, stating that he is currently out of the country. He explained that his father had been living with his granddaughter for several months but decided to leave, claiming that the child's mother was mistreating him—a claim the son denies.

"I talk to him every day, but he doesn't want to stay there and accept help," Rodríguez Zas said, adding that his father expressed a desire to move to a shelter in San Antonio, managed by Kisicuaba.

Due to the situation, Rodríguez Zas requested that local authorities be contacted to pick up the elderly man and take him to the shelter where he can receive necessary care.

"I am his only son, but I am in a complicated situation and cannot help him directly," he explained.

The case has sparked debate on social media in the context of the ongoing migration crisis in Cuba, which has left many elderly individuals vulnerable. Over the past three years, more than half a million people, mostly young individuals, have emigrated, leaving many older adults behind.

One user criticized the situation, emphasizing the importance of honoring and caring for one's parents. The user also highlighted that, regardless of misunderstandings or mistakes, it is crucial to take care of elderly parents.
