The government of Mexico will begin issuing a 20-day transit permit for migrants who have scheduled a CBP One appointment. The National Institute of Migration (INM) announced in a statement on Saturday the launch of an emergency safe mobility corridor to assist in the terrestrial transport of foreign nationals with confirmed CBP One appointments.
The initiative is part of an interagency strategy aimed at ensuring the safety of foreign individuals traveling by land to their appointment locations. To protect family unity, the migration authority will prioritize families to travel together.
To serve foreign citizens, the INM will establish two departure points: the Villahermosa Migration Station in Tabasco and the South Zone Migration Regulation Office in Tapachula, Chiapas.
The INM will issue a Multiple Migratory Form (FMM) valid for 20 days to those with confirmed CBP One appointments who choose to travel to their appointment locations via the Safe Mobility Emergency Corridor. This permit will allow them to have a regular stay status during their journey.
In a joint security effort, the buses provided for transport will be accompanied by security institutions at the federal, state, and municipal levels, and food will be provided during the corresponding trips.
It is worth noting that to date, 300 individuals who requested their CBP One appointment in Tabasco and Chiapas received responses to their requests within a few days.
By these measures, the INM promotes coordinated institutional actions aimed at ensuring a safe, regular, orderly, and humane migration process.
