A Cuban residing in the village of Tomeguín, located in the Perico municipality within the province of Matanzas, has garnered some notoriety for his unique method of curing indigestion.

"You can be in Havana and with just your name, I can cure your indigestion or bad digestion. From my home, I can heal those who are in hospitals. Parents tell me the name and the ward, and that's it. Just like the cattle worm, I only need to know where it is, and it falls off the animal without any medication," claimed Orlando Díaz Herrera to the state-run station Radio Habana Cuba.

He describes his way of "resolving" indigestion as a "natural gift" that he learned autonomously. "There are many who wonder how it can be, but in this world, there's something for everyone. I perform this work for anyone who needs it," he notes.

Historically, indigestion was one of the most common ailments on the island. It refers to overeating in one sitting or consuming indigestible foods. Traditional remedies include warm clear water, light chamomile flower infusion, elderflower infusion, or tea.

Indigestion healers are usually rural residents of Cuba who traditionally treat the condition with prayers, often using a measuring tape to gauge the severity, or with a towel.

Another method involves massaging one of the legs with oil or lard until the painful lump you never imagined was there, disappears.

Orlando, however, recounts an instance where he helped a girl who was hospitalized, where his son was also admitted. "There was a girl who was about to be transferred because she kept vomiting everything she ingested. My wife told me her mother wanted me to massage her, and as I was standing in the doorway of the cubicle opposite the girl, I did it from there. Then I sent my wife to give her three sips of tap water. The next day, she was discharged," he shared.
