Seidy La Niña: "A True Cuban Travels with a Coffee Maker"

Saturday, August 31, 2024 by Joseph Morales

Like many Cubans, Seidy La Niña prefers her coffee strong and dark, and she definitely notices the difference when she's served the watered-down version that's common in other places. To avoid this problem, the Cuban singer has a practical solution: she always travels with her coffee maker.

"A true Cuban travels with their coffee maker," declares Seidy, who brought her coffee maker with her on a trip to Houston, where she'll be performing this weekend. "This American coffee is undrinkable," she adds, as she skips the hotel coffee to brew a pot of Bustelo, known for its strong, robust flavor favored by Cubans.

"It has to come out black, strong, powerful, hard, and explosive... the coffee," Seidy says with a laugh before launching into the song "¡Ay Mamá Inés!".

"There's nothing better than Cuban coffee," she insists, and her followers agree, with one even confessing, "I’d leave my husband before leaving my coffee maker behind."
