Cuban Comedian in the USA Hilariously Mimics Phone Call with Mom in Cuba

Wednesday, September 4, 2024 by Michael Hernandez

The Cuban comedian Lil Lemon (known as @lillemon_oficial on TikTok), who currently resides in the United States, has shared a hilarious video on his social media account where he parodies a phone conversation with a family member in Cuba. The clip has gone viral as many Cubans resonate with the scenario depicted in the call.

In the video titled "When You’re Depressed in the USA and Your Family Cheers You Up," we see Lil Lemon talking on the phone with his mother, who lives in Cuba. During the call, he laments his situation, while his mother responds with her own complaints about life in Cuba. "I feel like I'm drowning," he says at the beginning, to which the voice on the other end replies, "And imagine us, in our block, we are the only ones without air conditioning."

The conversation continues in the same vein until, in the end, his mother remarks, without hanging up, that her son never stops complaining whenever he calls. This video has gained popularity among the Cuban community on social media, with many acknowledging they experience the same thing when calling their families.

"My mom is exactly the same, you try to talk about your situation, and she interrupts to talk about her problems," one user commented. "Were you talking to my grandmother by any chance?" another joked. "This is just like my husband’s (Cuban) conversations with his mother; he says he feels like they don’t care about him, and even though they are in Spain, they’re always crying about something," shared another viewer. "This was my conversation this morning," one user admitted. "So much truth in one video," another remarked. "In Cuba, they’ll never understand unless they live it; I send what I can, when I can, and don't explain much to the few I have left," one person explained. "Oh my God, I thought it was just me who experienced this. It’s literally like that," another viewer reacted.
