Cuban Woman Arrested in Italy for Leaving Baby Alone in Car

A 29-year-old Cuban woman was arrested in the town of Vigevano, in the province of Pavia, after leaving her baby, just a few months old, alone in the front seat of her car with the windows closed while she ran errands. The incident occurred at 11 a.m. on August 29th.

Local police, during a routine check, noticed the baby in the front seat of the vehicle, a Kia Stonic, which was also parked illegally near a hospital. The car, according to local press, was tightly sealed with the windows completely up and directly exposed to the sun, causing a rapid increase in the interior temperature.

The local police officers acted promptly upon noticing the danger, alerting firefighters and emergency medical services. Fortunately, after being examined at the hospital, it was confirmed that the baby was in good health, having suffered no harm despite the dangerous situation.

The Cuban mother of the infant, who was located shortly after in the vicinity, is a resident of Bereguardo, about 20 kilometers from Vigevano, and already had a record for child abandonment. Investigations confirmed that the woman, identified only as G.G., had intentionally left her child in the car to run an errand, which authorities classified not as negligence but as a deliberate action.

Additionally, the woman did not have the child's documents with her at the time of being found, further complicating her legal situation. The Cuban now faces a new complaint before the competent authorities for repeated child abandonment.

The local police councilor of Vigevano, Nicola Scardillo, praised the quick and efficient intervention of the officers, emphasizing that "it was a delicate matter that, fortunately, ended without serious consequences for the child." The timely response of the police and emergency services prevented a potential tragedy.
