A Cuban resident of Manzanillo, Granma, is seeking assistance for a Canadian tourist friend whose luggage was stolen during her stay at a hotel.

Alberto Nápoles Torres, a professor at the University of Granma, reached out to his friends who frequent hotels in Cuba and have experienced issues, asking them to guide his friend, who had her belongings stolen at the Hotel Marea del Portillo.

"Where can she file a complaint besides the police or the hotel itself? Leave a phone number, website, or email address. We need advice, please," he requested on his Facebook profile.

According to Alberto, fortunately, the visitor still has her passport, but she hasn't been able to recover her luggage and still has several days left at the hotel.

"She, along with other friends, comes to provide aid to hospitals, families, and elderly people in need, as well as to help the dogs living in the two hotels," he explained.

The young professor added that the affected tourist filed a report with the hotel management and the city police, but nothing has been resolved.

In the post, several internet users suggested that she should contact her travel agent, the airline, and also the nearest Canadian consulate or the Canadian Embassy in Havana.

Others recommended that she share her story on social media and leave a very negative review of the hotel on Tripadvisor.
