Thursday, September 5, 2024 by Michael Hernandez

Relatives and friends of a young Cuban woman, currently in intensive care following a traffic accident in Bolivia, have turned to social media to request financial assistance to cover her medical expenses.

Mailin Cabrales Arjona, a friend of Yarleny Alonso—the cousin of the hospitalized young woman—used Facebook to reach out to the Cuban community, sharing information about a GoFundMe account created to collect donations.

Alonso, who created the GoFundMe account, provided details about her cousin's severe health condition, emphasizing the urgency of raising funds. "Unfortunately, my cousin Yanelis had a motorcycle accident in Bolivia. She has been in intensive care for several days. Her medications, surgeries, and hospital expenses are very costly, and we are asking for help to raise the necessary money," she explained.

"Any help, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated. On behalf of her and the entire family, we thank you for your generosity. May God multiply your blessings," she added.

As of writing, the campaign has raised $1,265 out of the $7,000 goal.

A surveillance camera captured the moment of the collision with another motorcycle on a less-traveled street.

In an effort to help in any way possible, a solidarity raffle has also been launched, with the prize being a bottle of Havana Club rum.

In July, a young Cuban model, also residing in Bolivia, suffered a motorcycle accident, prompting his family and friends to seek help for medical expenses.
