A Yutong bus crashed into an electric pole this Wednesday, causing a power outage that left five zones of Alamar without electricity, according to reports on social media.

"Now on the hill of Alamar. I don't know the details. It's still there and part of Alamar is without power because of it," reported a user in the Facebook group 'Accidents Buses & Trucks.'

Images shared through this social network showed the bus from the Chinese manufacturer smashed against a concrete pole, seemingly carrying high-tension cables.

"Since then, there's been no power in Alamar, even though they were cutting it off and on all day before the accident," one user complained. "Nor in Cojímar," added another.

The bus, a Yutong with license plate B234888, was being used to transport "national train crews," according to a netizen in the comments.

"Only material damage and no physical harm, neither to the driver nor to the passengers," noted the commentator, who claimed to know the driver and to have worked in the same company.

"The crash with the pole affected zones 6 to 11 [of Alamar] and parts of Cojímar. This was published on Telegram by the electric company. It caused malfunctions," reported another user.

Witness Accounts

A supposed eyewitness described how the accident happened: "He was coming down the hill on wet pavement. Somehow, he skidded in a fan motion and ended up hitting the pole. If he hadn't hit it, he would have overturned."

Another alleged witness recounted a close call: "I thought he was making a U-turn when he came skidding toward me. I managed to escape by veering into the other lane. Luckily, no one was coming, but still, my car, which I had just painted 15 days ago, got scratched. But really, I was lucky."

"It happened right in front of me. What a sad moment for the driver and the passengers, who were all women," said another netizen who claimed to have witnessed the accident.

"No one was hurt, neither the driver nor those in the bus. Thank God it's only material damage. And for those only worried about the electricity, go complain at the Plaza de la Revolución. You've endured blackouts and kept quiet until now," commented another user.
