Florida's Attorney General Ashley Moody filed a complaint last Tuesday alleging a lack of transparency from the Biden-Harris administration regarding policies that allow the release of "criminal immigrants" from U.S. prisons.

According to Efe, this lawsuit aligns with a formal request made by Florida in March, demanding to know why immigrants who have completed their prison sentences are not being deported. Once released, these "dangerous illegal immigrants," as Moody describes them, are not sent back to their countries of origin.

"We demand to know why the Biden Administration is releasing criminal aliens from U.S. prisons directly into the interior, instead of deporting them back to their home countries," Moody stated in her communication from last March. She argued that the federal administration is fully aware of the entry of prisoners from other countries through the U.S.-Mexico border.

Additionally, Moody noted that, to date, her request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) has not been fulfilled, indicating that the White House will not provide documents revealing this "dangerous and illegal plan" in a timely manner.

Moody is also seeking records explaining the denial by authorities from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Federal Bureau of Prisons regarding the custody of immigrants released from prisons.

The attorney general cited an alleged takeover of an apartment complex in Colorado by a "foreign criminal gang," attributed to the transnational gang Tren de Aragua, although this claim was refuted by local police. Nonetheless, the existence of such criminal elements was not denied.

During the electoral period in the United States, immigration has been a critical issue between the two presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The Republican Party, in July, approved an electoral program that includes carrying out the largest deportation of immigrants in the country's history if their candidate, Trump, wins the presidential election on November 5.

In early May, the former president had already anticipated that he would conduct the largest deportation operation if elected. The Republican candidate has also accused, without official evidence, Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, of sending criminals to the United States as part of his strategy to reduce crime in the Central American nation.
