A Cuban woman has offered a $100 reward for the return of her stolen bag, which was taken while she attended the fair at the Virgen del Camino in Havana.

Daleidys Díaz explained on Facebook that her friend, the victim of the theft, had her mobile phone and personal documents, including the identity cards of both herself and her son, in the bag. The most concerning loss for the victim is the photos of her son stored on the phone, prompting her to appeal to the solidarity of whoever has the device to return it.

According to the post, anyone with information or possession of the stolen bag can contact her at +53 52930143.

The Cuban government acknowledged last June the worrying rise in criminal violence on the island, including the use of firearms. First Colonel Eddy Sierra Arias, head of the Dirección General de la Policía Nacional Revolucionaria, stated on the Mesa Redonda program that the deterioration of certain ethical values is contributing to the increase in criminal activity in the country.

"The main manifestations, although not the only ones, are crimes against property, home burglaries, thefts of cell phones, motorbikes, and the general belongings of the affected population," Sierra Arias explained.

Even Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez confirmed in July the rise in violence, crime, and addictions in the country, within the context of what he called an "adverse socioeconomic scenario." During his closing speech at the third session of the National Assembly in its tenth legislature, the president highlighted that the ongoing actions of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) and justice organs, in close cooperation with the people, have allowed them to uncover, prevent, and confront multiple criminal trends in recent years.

Earlier this month, four men broke into a house at night in Cárdenas, Matanzas, and took everything they could. The incident occurred recently in a house located on Salva Street, between Calzada and Coronel Verdugo.

A Cuban woman reported on Wednesday via social media that her mother, a 70-year-old elderly woman, was assaulted on a street in Matanzas. According to Evelyn Rodríguez Rojas's Facebook post, the incident took place in Santa Marta, in the Cárdenas municipality, around 10:00 am.
