After a day filled with anxiety and relentless searching, Yubaisi, the mother of a boy who had gone missing in Havana, has confirmed that her son is now safely at home. However, she asserts that his tendency to run away from school is linked to a severe shortage of essential medications he needs.

In a recent post, the mother expressed her profound gratitude to everyone who joined in the search: "Thanks to God, he is now with me. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, and many blessings."

Despite this happy ending, a deeper issue remains: the lack of access to crucial medications necessary for the child’s mental health and behavior control. According to the mother, young Reider, who is only 10 years old, is under psychiatric treatment and depends on medications such as Carbamazepine, Risperidone, and Methylphenidate.

These are potent, prescription-only drugs that are very difficult to obtain both inside and outside of Cuba. Carbamazepine is an antiepileptic drug, Risperidone is used to treat behavioral disorders, and Methylphenidate helps control symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The shortage of these medications, which are currently unavailable in Cuban pharmacies, has been a major factor behind the boy’s erratic behavior, contributing significantly to his disappearance. Yubaisi has issued a plea to the community, urgently seeking help to secure these medications and stabilize her child’s behavior.

"I urgently need someone who can help me get Carbamazepine, Risperidone, and Methylphenidate... I will be immensely grateful," she stated in her message.
