A Cuban woman has made a desperate plea on social media for help with a dog in Mayabeque whose owners emigrated and left the animal in the care of someone who no longer wishes to look after it.

On Facebook, user Yenney Caballero posted in the group “Yo Amo y Protejo a Los Animales” about a two-year-old pitbull with skin issues that have been treated, and whose overall health is good. The situation is critical as the current caretaker has expressed intentions to euthanize the dog if no solution is found. The plea is for someone to adopt the dog and provide a responsible home, preventing further suffering and an unjust death.

The post emphasizes the urgency and requests that the message be shared widely to find a family that can change the dog's life.

A Cuban woman who moved to Spain took her seven pets with her: six dogs and a cat. Regla Doreste Reyes shared her story on the Facebook page of the Cuban Society for the Protection of Animals to serve as an example and inspiration.

"To show that with sacrifice, we can help our furry friends and if we leave Cuba, not abandon them on the streets or hand them over to someone else. They feel our absence, suffer, and get depressed," she assured.

In June, animal advocates also sought a new home for a dog left on the street after its owners emigrated to Spain. Such situations are common in Cuba, where pet abandonment increases due to the emigration of their owners, creating a significant problem for animal protection.
