Saturday, September 7, 2024 by Emma Garcia

A young Cuban who has been sleeping on the streets of Miami for nearly a week made an urgent plea for assistance through actor Alexis Valdés and later through influencer Dairon Cano, seeking help from the community to find a job.

"This young man approached me on the street, emotionally distressed, asking me to help relay this message. If anyone has contact with the person he mentioned, it would be a great help," wrote Alexis Valdés alongside a video in which the Cuban man asked for Dairon Cano's help. Cano, a popular TikToker known for aiding compatriots in tough situations in Miami, shared the video on his social media.

"He has a lot of faith that this person is involved in such work and has the means and connections to assist him. If anyone else has an idea on how to help, please reach out to him. Good luck, compatriot," added the comedian.

In the comments section of the post, many people tagged Dairon Cano, who eventually went to the location where the young man, whose name has not been disclosed, was found by Alexis Valdés.

Background and Assistance

In his statements to the influencer, the young man explained that he arrived in the United States a year and five days ago through family reunification. He mentioned that he became homeless five days ago after breaking up with his girlfriend. "My police record is clean; I can show it. I have no criminal history in this country; I cleared it for my residency. I'm simply going through a tough time, perhaps due to poor decisions," he said, without providing further details about the breakup.

The young man, who identified himself as a Christian, said he has been on the streets for five days, during which two pastors provided him temporary shelter. "I don't have a job, I don't have a place to stay. My papers are in order, and I'm just asking the Cuban community and all your followers to help me find a job. I have a license, I have everything. I broke up with my girlfriend and had nowhere to stay, so I had to go to the streets," he clarified. He provided his contact number as 7862627963.

Dairon Cano bought the young man a pizza, gave him a ride in his car, and said he would take him to his home. "You won't sleep on the street tonight. You will sleep at my house. Count on that. I'm giving you my hand wholeheartedly. I don't know you, but I hope you are truly going through this tough time and that everything is real," the influencer stated.

"Focus, work, save your money for rent, and then move forward," concluded the TikToker while driving the young man. The Cuban, in tears, expressed his deep gratitude to both Dairon Cano and Alexis Valdés, who gave him $40 and shared his urgent plea on his Instagram profile.

In the comments section of Alexis Valdés's post, several people mentioned that a WhatsApp group has been created to assist the young man.
