Legendary Cuban athlete Luis Mario Miranda León passed away this Tuesday at the age of 65, according to social media reports.

"This morning we lost one of the greats in Santiago wrestling, a true legend of Cuban sports," wrote Alexander Alemán Osuna, a Cuban who is currently the head coach of the national wrestling team in El Salvador, on his Facebook page.

Another friend of Luis Mario recalled that he was known among his teammates as X and expressed sorrow over his passing. In the comments section of Alemán's post, many remembered him as a champion.

"Sad news for our sport and friends. Rest in peace, my coach, who was a significant part of my education, lovingly known as (X). My condolences to his family," wrote a former student.
