Woman Sought by Sweetwater Police After Fleeing Miami Salon Without Paying for Hair Extensions

Wednesday, September 11, 2024 by Michael Hernandez

The Sweetwater Police in Miami are on the lookout for a woman who fled a beauty salon without paying after receiving an expensive hair extension service. The incident occurred on September 6 at Yanka’s Hair Extension, a well-known salon located at 10780 W Flagler Street. Authorities reported that the service was valued at approximately $1,195.

The salon owner, Yanka Castillo, detailed that the woman introduced herself as "Stefani," but social media has identified her as "Heidy Guzam." She arrived at the establishment around 6:30 PM and requested one of the most expensive services available.

The client appeared to be well-informed about hair extensions and chose a specialized procedure. As usual, she was informed of the total price before the service began, which she accepted without issue.

However, once the procedure was completed and it was time to pay, the situation became chaotic. The woman refused to pay for the service, resulting in a confrontation. Castillo offered to remove the extensions as a solution, but she was only able to take out three strands before the client began acting aggressively.

Security cameras captured the moment the woman stood up from the chair and pushed Castillo when she attempted to prevent her from leaving without paying. Castillo filed a police report, explaining that she was physically assaulted by the suspect, who ultimately escaped with the hair extensions.

The suspect is described as a white woman with long blonde hair, approximately 37 years old, and with a neck tattoo that reads "11:11." At the time of the incident, she was wearing a white tank top, black leggings, and white sneakers. She was also carrying a backpack and a small dog, which caught the attention of authorities.

Sweetwater Police spokesperson Álvaro Zabaleta explained that the suspect could be facing serious charges. "Obviously, we're talking about grand theft, which is a felony. Additionally, due to the physical altercation with the salon owner, she is likely to face additional charges for assault," Zabaleta stated.

The police department has launched an investigation to locate the woman, who was last seen in the area of SW 129 Ave & 6 St, University Trailer Park, a location she frequents according to reports.

The incident has sparked outrage in the Miami community, particularly among small business owners who, like Castillo, have fallen victim to individuals who exploit their services without paying.

The salon owner expressed her frustration following the incident and shared footage of the altercation, which has allowed other victims of the same woman to come forward. "Within hours, I had information about her. She hasn't only stolen from my business, but also from other salons and even tried to take food carts at Sedano’s," commented Yanka Castillo.

Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the woman in the images to contact the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers line at (305) 471-8477 or Detective Rodríguez of the Sweetwater Police at (305) 552-9900.
