A young Cuban mother of a four-year-old child has been missing for several days in the Isle of Youth. Her name is Yanet Soto Castellano and she has mental health issues. Her uncle, Hipólito Scull, reached out to journalist Alberto Arego to publicize the case on Facebook.
"People say they saw her last week, but we haven't heard anything since," he said. "Because of her mental health issues, she roams around in old clothes, unrecognizable, with a white cloth on her head," he added.
The family filed a report with the Police last week, but so far, they have received no response.
"They said, 'Don't worry, family, we will circulate her information around the entire island and post photos of her in public places.' My sister, her mother, went all over Gerona, the central area of the island, and no photos of my niece have been posted by the police. It's like they don't care about the life of a missing young woman," the family member criticized.
Yanet's four-year-old son lives with his father and is also cared for by his grandmother and uncles. "Every day, he cries out for his mom," noted his uncle.
